Thanks for the faves and watches. :)

This is for :iconricko-chett:'s contest

For a chance to win a three month sub: [link]

I was really happy with how it came out :)

Lol I noticed I made her hips a bit weird. ^^'
The moon was very hard to do, I think it's the weakest.
I really love how the tulips came out. (This is a little fantasy world so I just decided to make tulips grow from water)

As usual, I don't know how to shade properly. :iconragefaceplz: (lmao, love that rageface)

Wish me luck! ;)

From now on I'm not going to go to everyone's page to thank for the fave or watch. I'm most likely going to be giving llama badges. Anyway, thanks for checking out my work and for commenting or faving or watching me! :)

Hi dear:heart:,
As you requested critique from #Traditional-Media on critic event, I would love to be here for your so I hope you dont mind it:hug:.

About your work, we have few things here:
-You can try draw her shoulder a bit bigger dear to make it looks balance with her head. (Also you may try draw her waist a bit thinner just to make her looks more pretty if you want dear :XD:).
-You may try draw her hands (DA has a lot of great tutorials about hands).
-If she is standing on water likes that, her dress will be flow on top of water dear.
-The water seems a bit down from the left side.
-Try to take more time to draw grass dear and the lower part of grass is always darker than the top.
-Because it manga/anime drawing therefore the moon doesnt need to be exactly real dear. You can draw the moon without these blue dots and try to use compass to draw it rounder (after use compass, draw free lines cover on it to make it looks natural).
-If you shade the background, try to use thinner lines and make it full dear because if you do just a part of the background and leave quite part like that. It will look like 'rushing' work dear. (Except when you draw background with some kins of patterns dear).
-Contrast is needed in this piece dear or not it will make the picture looks flat.
-And I saw your comment said you wanted to have tips about shading. I would love to tell you this :meow:. It seems the paper became 'shinning' after you colored right? That's because when you colored your work, you pressed your colors pencil so strong dear. Try to color it in circle lines and be very soft with it. If you want darker, try to color it with more layers. I know it may take time but believe me, it worth (: .

They are just some tips & I hope it can help anyway dear:heart:.
Thank you for joining our group event:sun:.
Take care,

:O Of course I don't mind.... O_O (Psst! You're one of my idols so I'm very happy!!! :la:)

Oh wow, thanks so much for the advice I really find it helpful. I hope you don't mind me asking:
What exactly is contrast ^^' Is that drawing the lighting and darkness in the picture?

Oh and what I meant by shading (I suck at this) I mean I'm really bad with the light and showing the shadows on an object, my lighting is very inconsistent because of this. I know there are a lot of tutorials on DA but I find they didn't really help much and I was wondering if you happen to have an advice on lighting? A lot of people tell me to 'find a lightsource' but I still have problems with lighting ><'

Also when you color, do you layer it in one place or you 'spread' and make a bigger circle? ^^'

By the way, I understand if my sentences don't make sense ^^'

Once again thanks a lot for helping and also for the late reply

Thank you :)
Haha, I don't think I'll win since I saw some really awesome entries :) But one could always hope.

My friend looked at it, he thought your character looks like Belle from Beauty and the Beast :)

Have a nice day. Thanks for adding this to your collection ;)

To learn to shade you have to study the colour wheel. Shading is done by blending opposite colours. red with green, blue with orange, purple with yellow and so on. Her hips are fine it's the fabric flow. A dress like that however tends to float and that is really hard to draw.

Wow, I never knew that! :O Thanks so much for telling me! :D (I feel like such a noob not knowing that)

But I think what I have trouble the most would be the lighting, knowing where my light source is and how dark to make shadows :(
Do you have any advice for lightsources? ^^' I'd appreciate it. :)

The best way is just decide where it is and have the highlights and shadows match.
